TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships can be classified into the following groups.

1. Merit: In this financial aid, financial need is not required to decide the recipient. The receiver may be determined by students’ athletic, academic, artistic or other abilities. The definite financial worth of the scholarship may be small, the scholarship is meant to encourage the student and support the study of the subject.Though, this is not the case all the time and the major scholarships are more orless all the time based on merit.

2. Need:This is monetary aid in which the student and family’s financial circumstances are a main factor in determining the recipient.Such scholarship is meant to cover up some or all of the tuition and might still cover living costs. These scholarships often times need those that will be granted the scholarship to be distinguished students. That is students who are brilliant.

3. Sociology: This type of financial aid is one that applicants ought to firstly qualify by race, religion, or national origin. After applicants have been filtered on the bases of their ethnicity, other factors will also be taken into consideration to decide the final recipients.

4. Institutional: These scholarships are awarded by a particular university or college to students who are planning to attend their institution. They are doing this to help students in a way of charity to better their life.

5. General: These are scholarships awarded for several reasons that do not fall into any of the above class. For example, some company give scholarships to their employees' children to help them because they know that higher education is very expensive.

Few scholarships have a kind of requirement which may need the recipients to work for an employer for a precise period of time. The recipient may also be asked to work in rural or remote areas. This is chiefly the issue with teacher training, health and medical education scholarships for people from or prepared to work in rural and remote areas in Australia. The programs offered by the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps) and uniformed services of the United States (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration commissioned corps, at times looks like such scholarships.
